Memorial Day Weekend Brings the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival
Are you staying in hotels by Disneyland during Memorial Day weekend? Garden Grove is holding a Strawberry Festival on May 25-28 for those of you that want to enjoy the spring weather! The festival will feature carnival rides, contests, a parade, autographs, karaoke and all kinds of entertainment for the whole family.
This year’s theme is Honoring First Responders. Highlights of the event include the opening giant strawberry cake cutting ceremony on Friday, May 25 at 6pm at the Showmobile. Free cake will be served to over 2,000 people. On Saturday, a VIP celebrity breakfast will be held at the Garden Grove Community Center with proceeds going to the charity We Give Thanks, followed by the parade at 10am. The parade will feature floats, bands, equestrians and celebrities. For more information on the event, check out the schedule here.
Carnival rides open at 1pm on Friday. There are over 44 rides for adults and young children provided by RCS, the folks that bring you the Orange County Fair every year. A wristband can be bought for $25 for unlimited rides all day. Individual ride tickets can also be purchased for $1. On Saturday through Monday, a wristband is $30.
In its 54th year, the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival has an incredibly history of entertainment for the Orange County community including strawberry shortcake, parades, helicopter rides, and a circus and rodeo. It is the second largest city festival in the Western United States, as well as one of the oldest. Last year’s attendance was over 250,000.
The Garden Grove Strawberry Festival is dedicated to raising funds for the community. It has raised more than $5.5 million for local charities since 1958. The festival treats over 2000 special needs children every year to a day of free rides and food. Spend your Memorial Day weekend honoring a great cause at the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival!
